This is one of my best memories from Laos:
Jessie and I taught some of her students the Macarena (well, a slightly modified version) after school one day. We didn't actually have a recording of the song, so we just kind of hummed, and yelled "Hey, Macarena!" at the appropriate times. Line dancing is popular in Laos, so the kids picked up the moves pretty quickly. They liked the dance so much, that each time I went back to the school with Jessie they wanted us to dance it with them again.
It was kind of surreal; dancing with the kids on the school porch until our feet ached, while humming the Macarena as loudly as we could.
